Restore London Ltd were the favoured specialist restoration Company, with an initial brief to carry out a condition schedule of the external façades of the building in order that a comprehensive survey could be compiled.

The team utilised our electronic surveying/ scheduling software to annotate the works required, with all repairs cross referenced to the façade drawings for ease of identification. The resultant survey was quickly and easily agreed by the Architect/Client and Restore London’s crafts team set about carrying out the works.

Works included replacement imperial soft red bricks were identified and resourced through one of our many brick suppliers, as was the Portland stone needed for indenting. Remedial works to bricks included replacement, pointing, brick indenting and brick repairs. Works to the stonework included re-pointing, repairs and indenting and the cross drilling/pinning of cracks.

We also carried out restoration works to the chimney stacks and extensive repairs to the balustrades. The fabric of the Institution’s façade, purpose-built in 1899, is now water proof with all possible areas of accelerated decay addressed.
